BLE range doesn’t limit shipment monitoring, because Emerald, Atlas, and Zebra ZS300 log data locally first and sync later. Each sensor is placed inside the shipment or vehicle at the start of the journey and records temperature (and humidity or light, for Atlas) continuously on its own memory, even where there’s no Bluetooth or internet coverage. At any point within range, such as a warehouse, hub, or delivery stop, the sensor syncs its stored readings to the cloud. Emerald and Atlas sync through the OCEAView mobile app or a Cobalt X gateway along the route. Zebra ZS300 syncs through a ZB200 bridge, which uploads data automatically from sensors within range. Once synced, the complete journey shows up on the cloud platform with full timestamps and instant alerts for any excursions. No. When a digital sensor in IoT uses Bluetooth Low Energy, it doesn’t need a dedicated gateway. The Bluetooth-connected device, a mobile phone or tablet running the OCEAView app, acts as the gateway for Emerald and Atlas. For Zebra ZS300, the ZB200 bridge takes on this role, automatically uploading data from sensors within range. When Emerald and Atlas are paired with Cobalt X instead, a LoRaWAN gateway comes into play. The sensor first sends its reading to Cobalt X over Bluetooth, and Cobalt X then relays that data to the cloud over LoRaWAN, extending the effective range well beyond what Bluetooth alone can cover. So with minimum infrastructure, often just a phone, bridge, or existing gateway, data uploads automatically from sensors within range to the cloud.
